Fundamentals in Educator Aide Training

The programme is designed to equip trainees with the fundamental knowledge, skills and attitudes to apply & implement good early childhood practices. It aims to help trainees to be familiar with how children learn and develop so that they can work with greater understanding in a childcare centre. Trainees will attain a higher level of self-awareness as they learn through working collaboratively in a team.

What You Will Learn

The programme cover three modules:

Module 1: Becoming an Educarer Aide
This module provides an introduction to working in the Early Childhood Setting. Topics include the roles & responsibilities of an Educarer Aide, the roles of Early Childhood Professionals and Effective Communication & Interpersonal Skills with Adults (including parents/family) and Children.

Module 2: Child Development & Guidance
This module equips trainees with a basic understanding of children’s developmental stages and how children learn. Trainees will learn about the different behaviours, learning needs and socio-cultural background of children, as well as the strategies in managing children’s behaviour.

Module 3: Aesthetics & Creative Expression and Motor Skills Development
This module explores the Expression of Art, Music and Movement, and Motor Skills Development in the Early Years. It covers the elements and strategies of these learning areas.

Mode of Delivery

Trainings are conducted in a face-to-face setting or online, where appropriate. The training will also take place at an actual preschool site.
