The First Inclusive Community Space in Singapore
Enabling Village (EV) is dedicated to integrating persons with disabilities in society.
Located in Redhill and managed by SG Enable, it brings together community amenities, lifestyle retail services and inclusive programming for all with a special focus on disability-inclusive training and employment for persons with disabilities. Its community services include an inclusive pre-school, a community gym with specialised equipment, and an assistive technology centre.
Winning both local and international accolades for its universal design, enabling technology and social innovations, EV brings together like-minded stakeholders, community and corporate partners who are committed to driving inclusion, fostering connectedness and promoting inclusive enterprise.
Our Public Education Initiative
i'mable started out in 2018 as an initiative to celebrate and shine a spotlight on the abilities of persons with disabilities. Its notable collaborations include featuring artworks of persons with disabilities on snack boxes and amenity kits by Singapore Airlines, and on the National Day Parade 2020 collaterals.
In 2020, i’mable expanded to a national-level public education initiative which celebrates the abilities of persons with disabilities and encourages everyone to recognise abilities, take positive action for disability inclusion and commit to building a more inclusive society and enabling lives. It is supported by Tote Board with the Enabling Lives Initiative and by National Council of Social Service with the Care & Share Movement.
Fostering Multi-Sectoral Collaborations
i'mable Collective brings together artists, craft makers, creatives and enterprises to develop a viable market for quality merchandise and services made by persons with disabilities. With programmes for capability building, retail collaboration and partnership outreach, this initiative by SG Enable creates enterprise opportunities to energise inclusive communities to bring about social impact.
Recognising the Achievements of Persons with Disabilities
The Goh Chok Tong Enable Awards, launched in 2019, motivates persons with disabilities with potential to go the distance in their endeavours. Each year, about a dozen winners are recognised at a ceremony held at the Istana and graced by President as the Guest of Honour.
The Awards is an initiative of the Goh Chok Tong Enable Fund (GCTEF), a community fund administered by SG Enable, and supported by Mediacorp. Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong is the Patron of the Fund.
Passionate Advocates who Champion Disability Inclusion
iChamps are volunteers with disabilities who champion disability inclusion, and include all winners of the Goh Chok Tong Enable Awards. They mentor other persons with disabilities and self-advocate by sharing their stories and experiences. We are thankful for all our iChamps in joining us to champion disability inclusion!
