Friendship 101 Cracking the Code of Social Interactions
Individuals on the autism spectrum frequently struggle with interpersonal social communication skills.
These are very critical skills to develop in order to better cope with independent living and work contexts.
This workshop is designed for adults on the autism spectrum who:
• Are interested in making and keeping friends
• Want to increase their confidence and ease in navigating various social situations
• Want to make meaningful connections with others
• Want to increase their ability to live independently through building and maintaining positive social relationships
At the end of the workshop, participants will learn strategies for connecting with others meaningfully and practical knowledge for handling social situations in different settings.
• Verbal and non-verbal communication
• Hidden codes of behavior
• Starting, maintaining, and ending a conversation
• Joining different social situations
Learning Outcomes
• Gain skills for making informal conversation with others.
• Gain skills for handling different social situations.
• Increase ease and confidence of using these skills by practising with peers.
