Strengthening Employment Support for Persons with Disabilities

employment-support-updates

Following the recommendations of the 2026 Taskforce on Assurance for Families with Persons with Disabilities, SG Enable will progressively strengthen employment support for persons with disabilities and employers.

The enhancements will improve access to employment support and expand employment pathways for persons with disabilities, while supporting employers.

One-stop support for employment

Employment Support Office (ESO) | From June 2027

The Employment Support Office (ESO) will serve as a one-stop point for employment related support, making it easier for persons with disabilities, caregivers and employers to know where to go for help.

Persons with disabilities can get help navigating employment, training, and career and skills services based on their needs.

Employers can get support on hiring and supporting persons with disabilities in the workplace, including available services and grants.

Simplifying access to inclusive employment support

Enabling Employer Grant (EEG) | From June 2027

The Enabling Employment Grant (EEG) consolidates existing grants into a single, streamlined framework, providing employers with a more flexible and integrated pathway to support inclusive hiring, workplace accommodations, disability-inclusive training and sustained employment outcomes for persons with disabilities.

The new framework aims to provide:

  • Greater flexibility in how employers use available support
  • Easier access for employers looking to start or expand inclusive hiring
  • A more streamlined application and claims process
  • Offset the cost for employers to customise in-house training to accommodate and meet the needs of employees with disabilities
  • Widen the range of training courses that employers and co-workers can receive support to attend, on how to work well with employees with disabilities

These efforts will make it easier for employers to redesign jobs and workplaces to support the needs of persons with disabilities and sustain their employment.

Existing employment grants and support remain available in the meantime.

More information on the EEG, including eligibility, funding support and transition arrangements, will be shared closer to its launch.

More employment pathways

Supported-Enterprise Enabling Grant (SEG)

A new Supported-Enterprise Enabling Grant (SEG) will provide funding to organisations that create supported employment opportunities for persons with disabilities with moderate needs.

Supported employment provides an additional employment pathway for persons with disabilities who require regular, structured support to participate meaningfully in the workforce.

More information on the grant, eligibility and application process will be available in November 2026.

Stronger employment support services

Employment Support Services (ESS) | From April 2028

Employment Support Services will be enhanced to better support persons with disabilities in finding and sustaining employment.

The enhancements will include:

  • A wider range of service providers to support persons with disabilities with different needs and profiles
  • Longer support for persons with higher work support needs
  • On-demand support when workplace challenges arise after regular job support has ended

More information will be shared closer to implementation.
