Heirloom Threads - The Singapura Collection (2022)
In celebration of the nation’s 57th birthday, we have partnered social enterprise, Heirloom Threads to design 57 clutch bags named "The Singapura Collection”. They comprise of handmade envelope and box clutch bags.
Heirloom Threads adapted four NDP artworks from 2020 and 2022 to design one-of-a-kind pieces to celebrate an aspect of Singapore culture through motifs of flora, food, and childhood games.

Different fabrics such as vintage Japanese fabric or raw silks and other interesting textiles were paired with denim, and embellished with brass stampings, filigree or embroidered applique, giving each bag each its own unique look.
The box clutches were assembled entirely by master craftsmen from SPD, who further honed their skills through this collaboration.
Watch this video to find out how Mr Gan Boon Leong, a master craftsman at SPD bookbindery, together with Zachery from Heirloom Threads, made a clutch bag with NDP 2022 artwork created by Metta Welfare Association. This bespoke clutch bag was specially made for President Halimah Yacob and presented to her at this year’s National Day Istana Open House.
