Taskforce on Assurance for Familities with Persons with Disabilities

New support to help persons with disabilities and their families plan ahead, find and keep jobs, and live well in the community.

On 4 October 2026, the Taskforce on Assurance for Families with Persons with Disabilities released its recommendations to strengthen support for persons with disabilities and their families across life stages. Formed in December 2025, the Taskforce responds to families' concerns about the "post-18 cliff", the uncertainty many face after a loved one graduates from a Special Education (SPED) school.

The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) and other ministries will put these recommendations in place with SG Enable, the national agency for disability, and partners across the disability sector.

At a glance

  • Up to 60%more Government spending per person with disabilities over the next five years
  • ~8 in 10households using adult disability services can receive means-tested subsidies by 2028
  • 2,300more places at Day Activity Centres and Sheltered Workshops by 2030
  • 12Enabling Services Hubs across Singapore by 2028

What the Taskforce Aims to Do: Three Key Shifts

1. Planning for the Future: care planners to help families plan ahead, and lower fees for adult disability services by 2028.

2. Finding and Growing in a Job: stronger support for jobseekers with disabilities and employers, from school to lasting employment.

3. Living Well in the Community: more places in adult disability services, new skills programmes, more Enabling Services Hubs and better healthcare access.

SG Enable's Role as the National Agency for Disability
