Collective connected experienced artisans from Bynd Artisan to conceptualise the brooch design, and guided apprentices from SPD on how to assemble each brooch.

Individual handcrafted leather pieces were handstitched into mistletoes, and attached onto a magnetic clasp to transform them into fashionable holiday brooches.

This project contributed to the running of the SPD Artisan Collab programme, which provides vocational training and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.

NUS x Arts@Metta

Collective worked with undergraduates from the NUS School of Design & Environment on a 14-week design sprint, to reimagine and propose product ideas that leverage the strengths and talents of artists from Arts@Metta.

The winning proposal creatively uses the silkscreen technique to repurpose and reduce wasted batik pieces created during the artists’ training process. This silkscreen technique was taught to Metta artists through our capability-building workshop, which helped our artists see their designs in a different light. Compared to conventional batik artwork, the silkscreen patterns overlaid on batik paintings created a fresh perspective, opening up new possibilities to how this technique could be applied on more of Metta’s product offerings.
