Services and Facilities

  1. Assistive Technology Showcase & Loan Library
    Carries a wide range of assistive technologies that meet various needs and budgets. Some items are available for loan to persons with disabilities.

  2. Technology-enabled Home Office
    A simulated living and working space where visitors can view and interact with universal design and assistive technologies.

  3. Assistive Technology Consultation, Assessment and Training Services
    SPD’s assistive technology specialists will be on site to provide consultation, assessment and training services for persons with disabilities.

  4. Communications Training Lab
    This training space is equipped with communication software and devices that are accessible to persons with sensory impairment, as well as PC stations which are accessible to wheelchair users.

  5. AT/ICT Lab
    Visitors will be able to try out a variety of assistive technology devices for different disability types. The Lab also serves as a showcase to prospective employers to appreciate the possibilities that assistive technology can bring about when hiring and integrating persons with disabilities at the workplace.

  6. Co-working Space for Assistive Technologies and Inclusive Innovations
    A co-working space where innovators, makers and researchers can discuss, test ideas and ideate products and services for persons with disabilities.

To request a therapist appointment to assess your assistive technology needs, download the Assistive Technology Referral Form (pdf) and complete pages 1 and 2. You should also complete page 3 if you need an assessment for Augmentative and Alternative Communications (AAC).
